Introduction
Foot problems affect over a third of the population. A podiatrist is a specialist who provides a fully comprehensive foot health service for conditions affecting the foot and lower limb.
These include relief of pain caused by defomities and dysfunctions; curatives footcare by use of therapeutic techniques including invasive surgery, prescription and provision of medication, individual appliances and orthotics to compensate for structural imbalances affecting the function of feet and legs.
We treat toddlers and young children in in-toeing and out-toeing gaits, athletes, pregnant women with problems relating to feet, geriatrics and the handicapped. Corns, callous & nail conditions e.g. in-grown toe nails can be a great discomfort to patients.
I also have a fully equipped orthotics lab for the fabrication of orthoses and corrective footware. A fully computerised gait laboratory is on hand for biomechanical evaluations.
My practice is contracted to most medical aid schemes.
